“I’m really happy that I get to play against the likes of Luke. That is the only way to better myself in the long run. I’m am the underdog so he has the pressure!”

BENJAMIN Drue Reus admits his Scottish backing can help him beat world champion Luke Humphries.

The red-hot Dane takes on the world No.1 in the Nordic Masters in Copenhagen on Friday night.

New Unicorn ace Drue Reus, 25, has signed up to the Dunvegan Darts management in Glasgow with Tommy Gilmour and mentored by Gary Anderson.

Now he reckons that belief can make him a big star. He revealed: “Tommy and Stephanie Gilmour at Dunvegan Darts have been a big help for me.

“They’ve helped me cope with all the travelling and the pressure of being in the PDC.

“It’s really helped build up my confidence that I have people behind me who believe in me and see my potential.

“I’m really excited for this tournament. I spoke to my family about it a couple of weeks ago.

“I told them I hope I don’t run into Luke Humphries in the first round because he is playing the best darts for a while now.

“I wouldn’t have dreamed of this a couple of years ago. It’s especially going to be good as the only Danish player participating.

“My family will be there to watch, we live about two hours from the venue.

“I’m really happy that I get to play against the likes of Luke. That is the only way to better myself in the long run. I’m am the underdog so he has the pressure!”

Drue Reus also wants a repeat of his stunning World Cup performances last year when he returns to Frankfurt for the Danes later this month.

He added: “Everything is going seamlessly at the moment.

“It’s a really big month for me with the World Cup in Frankfurt coming up as well. Hopefully I can repeat the success of last year.”
