GARY ANDERSON admitted he had been through a hard time before claiming his 30th Players Championship title.

The Flying Scotsman beat Adam Lipscombe 8-3 in the final at Hildesheim last night (Monday).

He breezed through his opening four matches for the loss of just seven legs.

Anderson revealed he was delighted to win his maiden title of 2025. He said: “The last few months have been hard for me.

“I started off a bit iffy today and then I picked it up.

“I’m over the moon. I have been struggling since early December, so it is nice to get one.

“Nowadays there are so many good players. It’s not like ten years ago when you pick the quarter-finals and the last 16.

“It’s a different kettle of fish now.

“I enjoy playing darts. Sometimes body-wise it does not play ball and that’s what I have to put up with.”

World No.16 Anderson averaged a super 105.21 to beat Tavis Dudeney 6-4 in round four. He then overcame Krzysztof Ratajski 6-5 in the quarter-final with a 104.72 average and dispatched Mike De Decker 7-3 to set up a clash with Lipscombe.

The 54-year-old reeled off seven legs on the spin from 3-1 down to beat Lipscombe and take yet another title win.
